Things I love this week

Fallen Magazine is a new Melbourne made magazine. It's awesome to finally have a stylish home grown magazine on the shelves showcasing the talented local designers, stylists and writers that I know and love.

Another thing I love this week is Limedrop's ephemeral installation at the Cloud 19 exhibition, which is part of the State of Design festival. The digital cloud print is so beautiful and dream like and Jo Duck's photography really captures that quality.

This beautiful almost spider web like scarf by Kyoko, was one of the stand out pieces I saw at last Sunday's This is not a Design Market. It is designed and made by Kyoko Osato here in Melbourne drawing on inspiration from her Japanese heritage. Her designs have a delicate simplicity to them yet are still fashion forward.

What do you love this week?

This is not a design market

The "This is not a design market" being held this weekend, looks set to be one of the best design markets of the year, and yes even with that name it is a design market, but it is more than that. Brought to you by the team behind Melbourne's beloved yearly Fashion Week pop up shop, Penthouse Mouse, you know your going to be in for an exciting time. Penthouse Mouse houses amazing art installations, live fashion shoots and live music with shopping, always making it a pleasure to attend.

This is not a design market will combine art, jewellery, homewares, clothes and more into one wholesome Sunday design experience! Support local designers and head down to 500 Latrobe Street this Sunday from 10am till 5pm.

More information can be found here.

My pick of the market is this necklace by Lola&Bailey, which you can see I'm wearing in the post below.

A little introduction

Hi there. My name is Hayley, otherwise known as Fashion Hayley. A few weeks ago GXYsearch approached me to contribute to their blog and I was intrigued. Who and what exactly is GXYsearch? And what was involved? Well GXYsearch is an innovative fashion recruitment operation, savvy to online trends. They wanted me to bring you all the goss and news from behind the scenes of the fashion industry. Together we want to get people talking about fashion, about the industry and especially about local Australian talent. We want this blog to act like a forum for the industry, so we encourage you to comment, ask questions and suggest topics to talk about.

When I last met up with Mel and Jo at their funky GXYsearch Prahran office we were all buzzing about the new Sportsgirl website which was to launch soon. Well guess what, today it finally did.

Sportsgirl Speak Up is an Australian retail first, combining an online forum, street fashion snaps, Sportsgirl TV, a blog and yes, online shopping. It's an exciting interactive platform that is sure to set the retail world on fire. It encourages the customer to get involved, have a say, voice their opinions and speak up. There is also the potential for bloggers, like myself, to get involved and lots of fun giveaways. As I type the forums are already buzzing, the street snaps have people talking and the blog is being read by hundreds of people. Why don't you have a look for yourself and speak up?
